GHK-Cu is a naturally occurring tripeptide (glycyl-L-histidyl-L-lysine) complexed with copper(II) that is found in human plasma, saliva, and urine. Plasma concentrations are highest in early adulthood (approximately 200 ng/mL at age 20) and decline substantially with age (~80 ng/mL by age 60). The peptide was first isolated from human plasma albumin fractions in the early 1970s.
